The Bardic Chef: Recipe – Sweet Tropical Chicken

We finally discovered a clearing large enough to establish a home for ourselves on this island. The others have been complaining incessantly, everything is a nuisance to them, but I have never seen a place so beautiful. The waves lapping at the shore, the trees sheltering us from the sun overhead, and the amazing amount of fruit and the wild chickens we’ve collected. They can’t wait until we escape, but I could see myself living a very simple life here.

It’s sad that we will have to go. I’ll enjoy it while I can.


  • ½ cup diced pineapple
  • ½ cup diced mango
  • ½ cup diced starfruit
  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon crushed mustard seed
  • 4 chicken cutlets


Combine the fruit and spices together, mush until a paste, and drench the cutlets in the mixture. Drizzle oil on each cutlet and grill over flame for 1 – 2 minutes on each side. Serve topped with fruit mixture.
