The Bardic Chef: Recipe – Pan-Fried Paprika Trout

The dark powers are really up to no good this time around, purposely trying to piss me off with the changes they’re making. Still no Victor to be seen, but now they have the gall to take poor little Arabelle, the innocent girl from the nearby Vistani camp, and transform her into a horrid undead creature. With a lot of luck (and this very recipe), she was restored to her true self, but I can’t help but take this personally. With everything I’ve encountered so far, it all feels so pointed at those I care about.

Ingredients:

  • Full trout, x4 – skinless is preferred, if possible
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp rosemary, crushed
  • Pepper to taste
  • Enough oil to coat the pan with
  • Prepared rice, about four cups worth
  • Optional: Chutney, I used a lemon, garlic, ginger, vinegar, and brown sugar one that was sealed in my jar.

Directions:

Light a fire to medium heat, and heat the pan over it. Pour enough of the oil of choice to coat it.

Rub the herb mixture over each of the fish, coating thoroughly. Place fish in the pan, cooking 4 – 5 minutes on each side, until well-crisped. It will flake when done.

Serve over the rice, add optional chutney or other toppings over that.
