The Bardic Chef: Recipe – Chimera Burger with Fennel Slaw

The chimera is an interesting creature, combining a lion, goat, and dragon onto what is usually the body of a much bulkier wild cat. While the meat flavors of these three creatures can vary, the texture of them are remarkably similar. Stringy, can be very tough, and the flavor profile can be very game-y if not prepared properly. Combining the three meats into one create an entirely new depth.

  • 1 lb Ground Chimera, sampling from all three heads and the body proper. Meat should be well-mixed beforehand.
  • 1 tbsp Lemongrass
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 Egg
  • ½ cup Fennel
  • 1 Apple (Green)
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 Zucchini
  • 1 tsp Coriander
  • 1/3 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Honey

Combine the chimera meat, lemon grass, garlic, onion, salt, egg, and vinegar. Mixing by hand provides the best results. Form burger patties and set in a cool place. Blasting a box or area ice-based spell, then placing the burgers inside provides extra stability, be careful to only chill and not freeze through.

Create long strands of the carrot and zucchini and place in a bowl. Finely slice the apple and fennel. Toss in a dressing over mayonnaise, honey, and a large squeeze of fresh lime juice. Add coriander leaves and toss lightly.

Cook the burgers to desired state, preferably over an open flame. Place on a bread roll (optional), and top with the slaw.
