Cats + Cartography is a series where I post a map I’ve made along with a picture of one of our cats.
In my free time I’ve been working a lot more in Roll20, creating maps and graphics I can use to better learn the virtual tabletop platform. One little project that’s taken up a lot of my mind is a space station set in the ALIEN universe.
After spending a long while picking apart the maps from the ALIEN rpg module Chariot of the Gods, I managed to emulate their style in Photoshop pretty closely. The map is made up of shape tool shapes, attached and merged at certain points, with several different overlays to give it CRT monitor scan lines.
The final result isn’t bad for my first try at this style.
Designing sci-fi maps is a lot of fun, and I’m excited to see how long I can keep this little project going…and what I’ll have completed when I’m done.
At my side the whole time has been Matilda, my faithful assistant, seen below in a supervisory role.
